The Illuminati – Some Thoughts On This Secret Society

The Great “Illuminati” Seal

Some thoughts on the Illuminati…

Well as far as a secret society goes the Illuminati haven’t done a very good job at remaining secret in recent years have they?

As far as history is concerned I think it is true to say that the Illuminati were a secret society, said to have formed in the late 18th Century in Bavaria – well if we are trying to be correct a date of 1776 has been proposed. It is difficult to piece together any meaningful history of this ‘society’ as the whole subject has become tainted with poorly referenced conspiracy paranoia, pseudo-historical analyses and the odd fraud (hoax) or two.

Starting with the choice of name – Illuminati – it seems that the society professed to be in line with some kind of information or approach that made its members ‘the enlightened’. It is likely that they had a republican political agenda which included the abolition of monarchies. It is further suggested that they tried to bring about change by means of subterfuge, secrecy, and conspiracy, including the infiltration of other organizations. They were not very successful and were destroyed, or at least outlawed, within fifteen years of their origin (Pipes 1997).

The founder is reputed to be Adam Weishaupt from the University of Ingolstadt and it appears that the society’s aims were closely linked to ideas from the Enlightenment i.e. to combat religious thinking and promote and encourage rationalism. Wieshaupt was an anti-monarchist and secularist which, obviously, informed the nature of the society he created. In 1777, Karl Theodor became ruler of Bavaria and, in 1784, his government banned all secret societies including the Illuminati and they disbanded (or perhaps were imprisoned, ‘destroyed’ or otherwise dispatched!)

There is no empirical evidence that this society survived the 18th Century.

What we hear of today is a melange of conspiracy theories from which have at their core the notion of some kind of elite, powerful and probably wealthy ‘secret society’ behind veils of other ‘secret’ or at least ‘clandestine’ groups.

Like an onion skin, although conspiracy theorists would prefer the image of a pyramid, the outer layers are the lowest levels of the New World Order movers and shakers and at the core can be found the Illuminati.

Sometimes we are told that this inner core of is run by a number of key families (13 is often quoted for effect more than genealogy) whose ‘bloodlines’ are linked and perhaps manipulated by visitors from another world.

illuminati all seeing eye
The All Seeing Eye

This inner core of people is so secret that the families are actually named on several websites…Their existence is so shadowy that they insist on leaving symbols of their very existence behind for us mere mortals to discover…

This then is the real Illuminati!

Seems like they’re not doing a very good job at keeping their manipulative presence hidden!

I mean stop for a moment to consider some simple ideas.

The bloodlines of monarchy and aristocracy are very likely to be linked in any case, what with marriage being the vehicle by which alliances were made. Such links do not require the organizing agents of ‘secret’ human societies let alone the interference from some passing aliens – or am I missing the point?

Of course there are ‘symbols’ which seem to survive and be repeated from time to time and place to place. As a species we are very good at creating symbolic language and meaningful patterns (you’re reading some right now)… AND of course some ‘magical symbols’ will form part of our everyday society as they have been a part of our psyche for a very long time. Assuming these symbols need to have any other significance is a bit of a stretch. The ‘Great Seal’ on US currency is often quoted as being Masonic or Illuminati in origin having been designed by Illuminati, or at least High Degree Freemasons. If you really check this story out (see Skeptoid) there are more than enough questions raised which serve to question the key assumptions in the conspiracy theorists rhetoric.

What do Governments do?

They rule, they plan, they organize, they fight, they assert sovereignty!

There’s no need to imagine a global conspiracy to explain the actions of Governments.

Now here’s where there is, perhaps, an element of truth in all of the Conspiracy Theories you have ever heard. It seems obvious to me that Governments cannot tell us the truth all of the time, truth after all is a relative concept, and there are things that must be on a need to know basis. More importantly some major Governments have been shown to be involved with somewhat dodgy dealings and certainly individuals within Governments are not above corruption, error and simply being wrong.

The simple fact the ‘the truth outs’ from some of these accidental, and not so accidental, cover-ups seems to belie the existence of ability to ‘keep’ secrets of any real magnitude.

Perhaps there is a rule of thumb that is worth exploring – the more people who need to be involved in any form of cover-up or covert action the LESS likely it is to be possible.

Google returns over 34,000,000 results for a search on Illuminati and a mere 1,000,000 for a search on Illuminati + Sceptic. Surely that suggests something!

The Illuminati (plural of Latin illuminatus, “enlightened”) is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious. Historically, the name refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776. The society’s goals were to oppose superstition, prejudice, religious influence over public life and abuses of state power, and to support women’s education and gender equality.  ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati

In the paranoid mind, the Illuminati succeeded in their goals, and have now infiltrated every government and every aspect of society. They are responsible for every evil and every unjust act that ever occurs anywhere; the fact that absolutely no evidence of their existence can be found only serves to make them stronger and more frightening. They are the demon in the closet, and will probably never disappear from the paranoid fantasy world of right-wing conspiracy theorists. – New England Skeptical Society http://www.theness.com

“Paranoid conspiracy theorists (PCTs) believe the Illuminati cabal still exists, either in its original form or as a paradigm for later cabals..” – http://www.skepdic.com/illuminati.html

The World Didn’t End on Schedule

The world didn’t end on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 like the Mayan calendar indicated. I wasn’t surprised, were you?

For the weeks preceding the Mayan doomsday date the National Aeronautic and Space Administration calmed fears among those who thought a bunch of Mayans a few millennia ago could predict the end of the world. I’m thinking they didn’t predict anything. I’m thinking they got tired of chopping calendars out of stone and went home for supper. I mean, how many calendars into the future do you really need?

It would be like printing out on our laser printer calendars for the next 4 million years – only printing them with a computer would be a heck of a lot easier than chopping them out of stone with little birds and leaves and snakes and stuff like that.

The Mayan Calendar is a little confusing to me. I’ve seen pictures of it and it looks like a wheel with some strange dude sitting in the middle surrounded by little icons towards the outside of the wheel. The icons look kind of like the first television set we had back in the 1950s.

mayan_calendarThey say the Mayans were pretty good at astronomy even though they didn’t have powerful telescopes to watch the stars. But think about it, what else was there to do at night? They didn’t have electricity and there was no TV. So what to do? They looked at the stars – it was almost the best nighttime entertainment available.

The smarter Mayans, probably the ones who went to MIT, the distinguished Mayan Institute of Technology, to get their PhD in astronomy, studied carefully the patterns of the stars. Their observations resulted in that cute carved rock with the little circle of symbols called the Mayan calendar.

Here’s an idea: I think I’ll claim Mayan ancestry and pick up where they left off. I could tell folks that my great-great-great-great grandfather was a Mayan Indian chief. I think I could pull it off because I do have high cheek bones. Heck it was a good enough story for some goofy college professor to get elected to the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, so why wouldn’t it work for me?

Then I could spend a few days figuring out all the signs of the times revealed by the chaos, death, disease and warmongering around the world using Google Search. Next I could create some mystical math equations decipherable only by me because of my superior Mayan heritage intelligence, and then, and this is where the plan comes together, I could predict the next date for the end of the world and describe earth’s final days and its attendant cataclysmic disasters!

This whole gig could be very popular and gain me a tremendous amount of attention because people love disasters. Remember the movie “Poseidon Adventure”, and “The Towering Inferno” with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, then “Earthquake” and “Outbreak” and “The Day After Tomorrow”? Blockbuster movies all!

The public seems to like that kind of stuff and some folks will believe anything. So maybe I should declare myself a Mayan, affirm I have a superior and mystical intellect; then start to hold meetings at midnight somewhere on a mountaintop in Colorado. After gaining a few followers I could then declare the next date for the world to end!

Would you join me? Gee, I hope not.

But what about the very serious notion that someday the world will end? It will end, of that I’m certain, “but no one knows the hour or the day these things will happen.” As far as I’m concerned it can end anytime God decides to push the button or pull the plug or light the fire or sound the trumpet. Whenever he wants to do it, I’m ready.

Are you?

Against the Law to Grow Your Own Food?

Gardens of Crime: Does The Government Want To Punish Self-Sufficiency?

Vegetable gardens are something I always remember my grandparents having while I was growing up. Nothing tasted better than the tomatoes and bell peppers that were eaten fresh just moments after they were picked. Still warm from the sun, with all the flavor that nature intended. It is certainly much healthier than the stuff bought in the grocery store! And if you had told me then that there would be any cause for concern or legal ramifications for growing food on property, I would have said to go back to reading science fiction novels. However, some believe that the current laws in place regarding food production are leading this country into the hands of complete government control.

Some have been fined and even jailed for refusing to move their gardens in their own yards!

Home Grown Tomatoes

What on earth? This can’t be happening, this is America! However, while some of the hype is just that… hype… there are some real concerns now about having gardens at home. And of course, it is all done with the words ‘safety first’. Seems like the government likes to decide what is safe and what is not by hiding behind created laws that are based in some need to protect the American citizens from some kind of danger. The Patriot Act after September 11, 2001 was done for ‘our own safety’ and it has resulted in less requirements for search and seizure of properties and vehicles.

Along the same lines is the Food Modernization Act that was introduced two years ago and after a few changes, signed into law by President Obama in January of 2011. This was allegedly done in response to outbreaks of E-Coli that were related to the mishandling of food and food products. It was for our own safety.

All sounds good, doesn’t it? After all these years, we must know that if it sounds too good and it seems like the government cares too much – maybe we should be asking twice as many questions.

Food Safety Modernization Act

In 2009, a bill known as HR 875 was introduced to Congress. This bill, known as the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, was originally proposed by the Democratic Representative of Connecticut, Rosa L. DeLauro in response to the large food poisoning outbreaks of salmonella and E coli that had taken place in recent years. It would require any food production facility to fall under more rigid standards before any product was consumed.

A Food Safety Administration would be implemented within the ranks of the Department of Health and devote its time to the research and prevention of food-borne illness as well as stringent requirements before food passed government inspection. The bill in its original wording did not pass into law, however two modified versions were presented in 2010.

The Food Safety Modernization Act (SB 510) was signed on January 4, 2011 into law – and this has had many who question the government’s motives extremely concerned for the future of self-sufficient gardening.

Do Companies Such as Monsanto Stand to Gain from Laws Geared Toward Not Allowing Home Gardens?

Some of the concerns have been exaggerated, in particular the claim that DeLauro’s marriage to Stanley Greenberg, the CEO of Greenberg/Quinlan Research Inc. put her at odds with the nature of the bill. The speculation was that Monsanto, a huge food and agriculture corporation headquartered in Missouri, had business dealings with Greenberg and the ‘research facility’ was simply a smokescreen for direct dealings with Monsanto. This in turn leads to speculation that Monsanto has a vested interest in this bill to gain a food production monopoly. There is nothing that can conclusively prove this connection and all parties involved have denied having any business dealings for at least a decade. It has also been argued that there is no language in the bill that directly controls the production of organic and home gardening.

Or does it? Many believe that the law is the beginning of the end for the self-sufficient gardener. The fear is that the regulations on food production under this law will attempt to force people to buy only government approved produce. While some rumors of the law have been exaggerated, such as farmer’s market’s being forced to shut down due to impossible regulations (there is nothing whatsoever in the wording that refers to this), there are some legitimate concerns. Even more alarming is that since this law has introduced, real people having to face fines and prosecution.

Cases of Prosecution for Home Gardens

Michelle Obama (http://www.dailynews.com)

In Oak Park, Michigan during July of 2011, a woman was charged for violating city ordinances by having a vegetable garden in her front yard. Now while many will argue that this is city issue, what was interesting is that in looking at the city ordinance laws, vegetable gardens, especially those neatly kept as this one was, are not in violation.

So are these minor city offenses going to be blown up out of proportion?

The case was dropped against this woman and she did not go to jail over her garden. She plans to continue growing her vegetables and truly believes that the public opinion swayed the DA’s office. People spoke up… because now they are realizing that the threat is not just the ramblings of the conspiracy theorists but rather a step to government control into how we take care of ourselves and our families.

After all, if Michelle Obama can plant vegetables in the front lawn of the White House to promote childhood health, why can’t everyone?

Another case in Georgia involved a man growing vegetables in his back yard. The city issued an ordinance violation, saying that his garden was ‘too large’. He was given a fine of $5,000 for the crime of growing his own food and selling the surplus. According to the ordinance, there is a ‘fine line’ between growing food commercially and growing for personal use. This happened in 2010, before the Food Safety Modernization Act became law, but during the time of the changes being made to the original legislation. Is it simply a coincidence that these cases are coming to light since its introduction?

The danger here is taking every case that is a city violation and stretching the circumstances to make it fit a conspiracy. But even more dangerous is simply putting our heads in the sand and saying that there is absolutely no connection and that the law does not have any real concern to self-sufficiency.

Anytime the government steps in for ‘our own good’, the guard should be up and we should question what is being done for our supposed protection.

Genuine Concerns About Growing Your Own Food

At this time, the only criminal charges for having a home garden have fallen under city ordinances that for some reason are being enforced now more than ever. The timing of that, if nothing else, has people in an uproar about the future of self-sufficiency. However, we must also be aware that there is more focus on those cases than there used to be because of this bill. And yes, it is very interesting that a highly publicized case of an attempt to prosecute a gardener came to light a mere six months after the bill had been signed into law, but if the law were not an issue – how far would the news have gotten? Are we looking too hard for examples?

The true concern with this law as it stands now is that the smaller farmer is going to be at a disadvantage financially. If only supplies and pesticides that are government approved are allowed for farming, what will happen to the organic farmer? Many of these food producers are not going to be in the same financial position to cover the costs and fees that will be in place to have an established government-approved farm. Some believe that this is simply a quiet, unassuming way to gain control and power over those who want to be as self sufficient as possible as well as putting the organic farmer out of business.

The voices from the government are whispering in our ears to ‘hush now – all is well and it is for your own good’. But how is a government agency being in that much power of food production a good thing?

Why are ordinances that have not been enforced in years suddenly a bigger priority?

And why does the safety of our country from foreign terrorists always factor in to the propaganda when it is hawked for approval?

Keeping rainwater in barrels is illegal in some states.

Saving seeds has come under intimidation. An example would be Monsanto not allowing the farmers in Missouri to save their soybean seeds, saying that it violated ‘seed privacy’.

And now a law that will only benefit large business food production while cracking down on the farmers who can’t pay to get around the loopholes.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Driving While Talking on a Cell Phone is Stupid

Driving a Vehicle? Stay Off That Phone!

I was leaving the grocery store and nearly wrecked as I had to slam on the breaks to avoid hitting a car that pulled out directly in front on me. I was looking right at the car and the driver did not look in either direction, she never even glanced at all! What was she doing? She was talking on her cell phone! She came out of that parking lot without looking or even being aware that there was anyone else in the world besides her.

I drove on and less than a half a mile on farther down the road another driver, this time a man, made a right hand turn from a red light without stopping. He pulled out in front of us and if the left lane hadn’t been clear we would have had a collision. What was he doing? You may have already guessed that he was talking on a cell phone!

A little while later, maybe another mile and a half into our drive, a lady suddenly changed lanes almost right on top of us. I had to hit the brakes and swerve a little over into the median to avoid her. She was going down the 4 lane talking on her cell phone and was completely oblivious to the fact that she had changed lanes!

If You're Going to Drive Stay Off That Phone!
Hang Up That Phone And Drive!

Nearly everywhere you look people are on their cell phones. They cant seem to drive down the road, pump gas, shop, or do much of anything else without having that little phone pressed up to the side of their head! I wonder how many deaths and injuries have been caused by these people? More than a few I am sure.

Talking on a cell phone while driving is against the law in many states but not in Kentucky. However, it shouldn’t take a law for people to wake up and stop doing this! If you have to make a phone call then pull over somewhere! Better yet if you can’t stay off the phone then stay out of your vehicle or get someone else who has better sense to drive for you.

I will not apologize to anyone who is offended by this. It makes me so angry when I see things like this and someone driving a car while trying to text or talk on their cell phone. If that is you then please consider what you are doing before you end up killing yourself or someone else!

Illuminati: Masonic Organization

Among the Masonic organizations the Illuminati occupy a top position. The fact that right after it had been created it was declared to be outside the law projected into the public mind that they are a group of plotters ready to enslave the world to satisfy their thirst of power.

The Masonic organization of Illuminati appeared on the 1st of May 1776 at Ingolstadt in Superior Bavaria. It’s initial name was The Bavarian Illuminati. At its secret structure lies university teacher of canonical law named Adam Weishaupt who, apparently got his inspiration from the freemasonry model. The Latin word Illuminati is directly linked with the Illuminated Age of which Bavaria was no stranger.

Illuminati: Masonic Organization Masonic Symbols
Masonic Symbols The All Seeing Eye

In 1784 the Bavarian authorities forbid any secret organizations amongst which were the Illuminati. The restriction order was not directly aimed at the Illuminati, they were just collateral damage in the war that absolutist regimes had against revolutionary movements. Yet, the posterity remembered the official propaganda that advertised the danger the Illuminati (not only) possess and that they were plotting against the social order which is now known as New World Order.

Illuminati: Masonic Organization The Pyramid and the Eye
Pyramid and the Eye

Forbidding the organization to exist proved to be efficient on short-term because many social, political and cultural personalities joined the order. Actually, members of the Masonic cult started to worry because many of their people decided to join the Illuminati, increasing their prestige and power. It appears that Goethe and Herder were members of the Illuminati. Feared and forbidden to exist in 1785, the Illuminati found refuge in the United States where it saw a new beginning.

Today, the order is present everywhere around the world and won the sympathies of passionate researchers of conspiracies. Even so, nobody was able to draw a concrete line between legend and truth when it comes to the secret organization called Illuminate, which has a lot of copies all around the world.

Will Solar Storms be a Threat to Life?

Solar Storms are coming. Emergency Survival knowledge, and Preparedness are key. You may be asking questions like, “Exactly what is a solar storm, and how can it affect me and my family?” “What emergency survival knowledge should I know about?” “If preparedness is the key, then what should I do?” In this four part document we are going to answer these questions and provide insight into the larger picture. We will give you the information that the media, and government are holding back.

So what is a solar storm? Well solar as you might have guessed refers to an event involving our sun. A storm is defined as a violent disturbance of the atmosphere. But instead of the disturbance occurring in the form of thunder, lightening, or precipitation, it is in the form of charged particles that are ejected from the sun. These charged particles travel in large clouds that can carry up to ten billion tons of plasma. These clouds are also called Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs), when they are released from the sun.

Should Plastic Bags Be Banned?

Our little town juts out into a very big lake. And everyday, I take a three-mile walk, along the lake, winding through wood and field. I love the flora and fauna along the trail, all the critters from buzzards to bobcats (Texas) and the breathtaking seasonal changes. But I hate the plastic bags snagged in the brush and branches.

Nevertheless, the cussed things are sure handy for toting groceries and stuff. What to do?

Bag bans seem to be gaining momentum.

State Delegate Alfred C. Carr (D-District 18), for example, is fixin’ to introduce a bill (The Chesapeake Bay Restoration Consumer Retail Choice Act) that would slap a nickel tax on new plastic and paper bags used by Maryland shoppers.

Last September, California senators balked at an Assembly-approved bill that would have made the state the first in the nation to ban all plastic shopping bags. AB 1998 would have outlawed single-use plastic bags in grocery stores and pharmacies, starting next year and in liquor and convenience stores in 2013. The idea was to encourage shoppers to bring their own reusable totes.

No More Plastic Bags?

Nevertheless, a couple of months later, Los Angeles County passed a law affecting more than a million residents of unincorporated areas: “No store shall provide to any customer a plastic carryout bag.” An exception would be made for plastic bags used to hold fruit, vegetables or raw meat in order to prevent contamination with other grocery items.

Plastic bags have been contraband in San Francisco since 2007.

And if you vacation on Maui, Lana’i, Moloka’i or Kaua’i, you’ll have to haul your leis and pineapples back to your hotel in a lauhala bag, because their plastic bag ban took effect a couple of weeks ago. And justifiably so. According to the Kaua’i Department of Public Works, “The world’s ‘great garbage patch’ can be found floating between Hawaii and San Francisco. This garbage patch is estimated to be twice the size of Texas and thousands of pounds of our discarded trash, mostly plastics.”

So what do you think?

Paper or plastic? Or lauhala bag?

Earth Undergoing a Period of Mass Extinction?

Did you know our planet is undergoing one of the largest mass extinctions in the past 4 billion years? “So what,” you say. “It does not really affect me. Sure I feel sorry for the polar bears, elephants and tigers but their time is coming to a close. We all have to deal with our own and our own is humanity.”

This kind of human attitude suggests the question, “How many species can our planet afford to lose before we human are placed on the same extinction list?” Certainly at some point in this evolution of the species humanity will not be forgotten. The only questions are when and how our species will have to really struggle for survival?

The current extinction numbers are truly fantastic to consider-in fact the recent loss of species from just pollution and deforestation, within the past century, are enough to boggle your mind. Also our planet’s reefs are being devastated so fast the abundance of marine life, which uses coral reefs as a home, will not be alive for long.

The Population Explosion How Big a Problem is it?

In the mist of each human life I believe there are key turning points which go on to determine, not only personal success achieved, but as well the quality of life for each individual and that individual’s family; and that it is how this quality of life affects ones community which determines, in a large part, how successful communities are in fact built.

Applying this same individual reckoning to nations I would suggest our planet has come to a critical cross-road, a key turning point, if you will, whereby the future quality of life upon our planet is in question. Individual nations now have the opportunity to address or ignore the issues of population control. If nations choose to address this urgent human issue then I have little doubt quality of life in the future will be positively impacted. On the other hand, if nations continue to ignore population statistics, they will do so at their own peril.
